Forty years ago this year WADAOS produced and performed the popular 'The Boyfriend' 1984.

This production was directed by our beloved late President Elizabeth Simpson.

"The Boyfriend" staged at the Rosehill Theatre. This 'fast and furious' show involved a great deal of dancing.  Indeed the Whitehaven News was considerably impressed by the talents of Debbie Johnston, the choreographer. The News stated that 'she deserves special congratulations particularly bearing in mind  that some of the cast had never been in tap shoes before'.

The musical is by Sandy Wilson. Set in the carefree world of the French Riviera in the Roaring Twenties, The Boy Friend is a comic pasticheof 1920s shows, in particular early Rodgers and Hart musicals such as The Girl Friend. Its relatively small cast and low cost of production makes it a continuing popular choice for amateur and student groups.
